Asset name:
Ben's Studio
Description:
Ben's Studio, founded by Newfoundland artist Benedict Joseph Ploughman, specializes in unique 3D wooden folk art. Using recycled materials like lobster trap laths, Ploughman creates handcrafted pieces that reflect Newfoundland’s history, culture, and social issues, such as the cod fishery collapse and decline of the rural population. He is a 7-time exhibitor at the "One of Kind" Christmas Show in Toronto and an exhibitor at the Artist Project '09 Toronto. His work tells stories through sculpted characters and detailed scenes. Currently, he is compiling a book showcasing his art.
